The trusses are delivered. The truck is actually stuck at this point and is trying to lighten the load by dumping the trusses.
The very first truss. Starting the lift...
Upright
Lifted
Swinging around to head onto the slab
Starting down the slab
Easing it into place on the end wall
In place and ready to be secured.
Kenny taking a break from the hard work of driving the forklift
The second truss is in, now I have to brace it. This is actually the second attempt at the second truss. I thought we could carry several at a time to minimize trips back and forth with the forklift, but there was one small problem: how the heck do we hold the one that needs to be braced while also holding the others? It took over 4 hours to get this first truss in!
We got a rhythm going and started to finally make some progress
When Kenny wasn't around Eliz and I had to intall the trusses just the twain of us. Here are a series of pictures showing us doing a 'solo' install: First position the forklift over the stack of trusses
Tie on the guide ropes and loop the support ropes around the truss
Lift the truss off the pile
Then swing it around to start the trip down the slab
Once the truss is in place I get to make like a monkey and brace it top and bottom
Here you can see just how much (or little) clearance we had for the forklift between the plumbing pipes. Amazingly none of the pipes were hit!
We are getting some assistance from Eliz' sister Lolyn
