Because we own land in the Holman's creek watershed (there is a group of people striving to clean it up) and have a sink hole, we got invited to a presentation on karst topography (the geology of the limestone regions that lead to caves). Since I have studied caves (and gone 'kerplunking' as a friend of mine liked to say) there wasn't much that was news to me, but we also got a free tour of Shenandoah Caverns. A big surprise to me was that the caverns are probably only about 3 miles from our place, so now I am itching to try to explore our sink hole to see if it goes anywhere. Everyone in our tour all got to know Dondon's name very well considering we called out to him probably a hundred times to attempt to keep him in line. He seemed to really enjoy it.
